Carlow L.T.C Squash

The Squash Skills Certs were presented recently, there are 6 levels in the pro gramme, blue, red, yellow, bronze, silver and gold. The youngest recipient was just 5 years of age and he achieved the first level blue.

The Club Championships ended the competitive season for the club on Saturday night and what a night we had, great squash a fantastic atmosphere - well done to all.

The final squash tournament of the junior season was concluded in Galway this weekend with the staging of the Interprovincial Championships. Carlow had 13 players on the the various teams and indeed the U15 girls team of 6 players featured 5 from the club.

The finals did not dissapoint the large group of spectators who enjoyed a feast of squash over the weekend. The quiz and variety night was a huge success and our thanks to the juniors who sang and danced.

Róisín Brennan brought an amazing Junior Squash career to an end in Belfast this weekend when she won the Irish U19 Junior Womens title winning all her matches 3/0.

She has This was a fitting end to 8 glorious years as a junior squash player, Ro has won National Titles at U15/17/19 level the ex Gaelcholáiste Cheatharlach student has represented Leinster both on junior and senior teams, she has represented Ireland at Home Internationals and is one of an elite group who has played in two World Championships in Belgium 2005 and Hong Kong 2007. Always a joy to watch on court her smiling and pleasant presence will be missed on the junior circuit. Carlow squash thank her for keeping the Carlow flag flying with distinction both in Ireland and abroad.

Rebecca Mc Dermott -could she join Ro at the top? She has the ability and she finished 3rd U13. Shaun Hennessy finished 5th U13.
